Thank you for checking out Emmaus MotoTours. First I would like to explain what Emmaus means and why I chose this as the name for our tour company. The Road to Emmaus is one of my favorite stories in the Bible. It involves two despondent disciples of Jesus walking along the road that connects Jerusalem and the small town of Emmaus. They are despondent because Jesus has been crucified and they feel like everything that they believed and hoped for in following Him for three years was gone. So they were journeying back to their old way of life in Emmaus. But Jesus joins them on the road in a form they cannot recognize and He explains to them that all that had happened was planned since the beginning of time. That the real journey they were on was the one that began when they first followed Jesus and that journey will continue into eventual eternal life. It is in the breaking of the bread that evening that they recognize Jesus and understand all that he taught them. (Luke 24:13-35)
And it is the spirit of this journey that I hope to capture during our tours. Especially for those who are new to this sport. Come join us as strangers at first, then as fellow riders then, ultimately, as friends.
John Ciribassi – founder and owner of Emmaus MotoTours
John Ciribassi
Originally from NJ, John rode motocross from 14 until he entered college and veterinary school. He later began riding dual sport and then Adventure motorcycles over a decade ago. He practiced veterinary medicine with his wife, Elise (also a vet) for 37 years before retiring and moving to the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. He started Emmaus in 2019 as retirement career and as a way to meet new people, friendships and introduce them to the amazing world of adventure riding. He currently rides a Yamaha T7, but has had many bikes over the years…and many more to come!
Jim Blais
Jim is originally from New Hampshire. He has ridden and been involved with motorcycles most of his life. Up until his retirement he had worked in financing with Harley Davidson and also managed a Harley dealership in Virginia. I was fortunate to find Jim when I needed help in running my first tour on the Mid Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route (MABDR) and we have been friends since. His abilities as a rider and in working with people has help Emmaus continue to grow over the last few years. Like John, Jim is an Ambassador with BDR. Jim lives in Virginia with his wife, Rachel. Oh, and Jim also rides a T7. He knows a good thing when he sees it.
